Donald Trump removing Secret Service Director Randolph ‘Tex’ Alles: Report

April 8, 2019

U.S. Secret Service Director Randolph “Tex” Alles is reportedly being ousted by President Trump.

Multiple administration officials said the president directed acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney to fire the director, according to CNN.

Mr. Alles was reportedly told two weeks ago he would be replaced, but was asked to stay on while a replacement was found and throughout the leadership transition, according to a source “close to the director.”

The removal of Mr. Alles follows the sudden resignation of outgoing Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen on Sunday.

“There is a near-systematic purge happening at the nation’s second-largest national security agency,” a senior administration official said.

It is unknown what has prompted Mr. Alles’ replacement, but an official said his firing was not related to a Secret Service controversy in which a Chinese woman passed through security with passports, cell phones and a flash drive with malware on it at Mr. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.
