University Circle police chase ends in crash in East Cleveland

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio – Two people were hurt early Thursday when a University Circle police chase ended in a crash in East Cleveland.

The impact threw one person from the car, and a second person was trapped in the vehicle when it crashed just after 1:15 a.m. near Nemo’s Liquor Store on Euclid Avenue near Forest Hills Boulevard, according to a police report.

Both occupants were taken to a hospital for treatment. Investigators have not provided an update on their conditions.

East Cleveland police did not say why University Circle officers were chasing the car. The University Circle police Chief Jim Repicky could not immediately be reached for comment.

The State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, East Cleveland and University Circle police said.
