Affixed to the back of each player’s helmet will be a small decal in the shape of a football with simple white block letters bearing his initials of “RCM.” Houston will try to set a franchise record with their eighth straight win.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North and South Korea have won their first international recognition of Korean traditional wrestling. The Koreas had earlier pushed separate bids for the sport’s UNESCO recognition before merging their applications amid an easing of tensions this year. The Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage decided to inscribe Korean wrestling on its list of “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.”
TOKYO (AP) — A corruption case involving a powerful IOC member is overshadowing meetings this week in Tokyo with local Olympic organizers and the heads of 206 national Olympic committees. Sheikh Ahmad of Kuwait has stepped down temporarily as head of the Association of National Olympic Committees amid a pending criminal trial in Switzerland. He denies any wrongdoing and has said the charges against him are “politically motivated.” He was seeking re-election in Tokyo to head the Olympic umbrella group.
