Virginia ski resort opens for season with $1M in upgrades
NELLYSFORD, Va. (AP) — A Virginia ski resort has opened for the winter season with more than $1 million in improvements and additions.
The 11,000-acre Wintergreen Resort in Nelson County has added 10 new snow guns with a greater range of working temperatures, The Daily Progress reports.
Wintergreen also added a new cellphone app to provide information about trails, conditions and lift lines.
The app has a GPS feature that can track a skier’s location so friends can find each other. It can also record total vertical feet skied for the day and season and display personal records for vertical feet and distance.
The resort also added new equipment to its rental shop, including skis, boots and helmets, marketing manager Betsy Dunkerton said.
