Kandi Finfrock: Reasons for building a wall

December 18, 2018 GMT

Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are willing to shut down the government because they don’t want a wall on our southern border. Democrats, the liberal media, and some establishment Republicans are all trying to blame this shutdown on President Trump. Make no mistake, Pelosi’s and Schumer’s unwillingness to compromise with President Trump on this issue is the real reason a government shutdown could happen.

Just a few years back Pelosi, Schumer, Obama and Hillary spoke about needing a “barrier” (another word for wall) to keep America safe. They said a “fence” (another word for wall) would make our communities safer, reduce crime committed by some illegals, cut down on the flow of illegal drugs entering the country, and reduce the risks to illegal crossers from cartels and human traffickers.

Here are some facts: illegal drugs (90 percent of heroin and fentanyl) enter the country through our southern border; 56,000 illegal criminals are in our prison system; $135 billion is spent annually on public services for illegals (welfare, food stamps, free medical care — money that should be spent on American citizens); immigrants trying to enter the country legally are pushed to the back of the line; homeless Americans languish on our streets in filth and despair. President Trump wants $5 billion to continue building the wall. It’s a drop in the bucket of our federal budget and politicians know it. The wall should be built (high, wide and deep) to protect American sovereignty and keep the country safe. We have a right to be a sovereign nation and a border wall is a needed tool to help us do that.

Politicians have been talking about border security for decades. Pelosi and Schumer and other politicians are breaking the oath they took to protect America, uphold our Constitution and keep American sovereignty at the forefront of everything they do. It’s time for them to stop talking about the wall and get it done!
