Cops: Trumbull teen exposed genitals to another resident at condo gym
TRUMBULL — A case involving a 17-year-old accused of exposing his genitals to a woman at a gym was referred to Juvenile Court this week, police said Tuesday.
The teen, who was not identified since he is a minor, was charged with public indecency and breach of peace.
On Monday, police arrested the teen after he allegedly exposed himself to a female resident at the Royce of Trumbull condominium complex on Old Town Road, police Capt. Keith Golding said in a news release.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Golding said. The teen, who is also a resident at the Royce, went into the gym area of the complex, where the victim was already exercising, and began working out.
Within half an hour, the victim finished her workout and was leaving the area when the 17-year-old followed her out, Golding said.
“As they walked back toward the residential area, the male approached the victim from behind, said ‘excuse me’ to get her attention, then exposed his genitals and asked for a sexual favor,” he said.
The victim responded, according to Golding, by saying, “Are you kidding me?” and said she was going to call the police. At that point, the teen ran off into the complex.
“The victim was able to identify the suspect via video surveillance recorded from inside the gym,” Golding said. “The suspect was later brought to police headquarters where he admitted to the incident.”
The case was referred to Juvenile Court. The 17-year-old was released into the custody of his parents.
