Region 9 teachers awarded over $30,000 for professional-learning trips
Ten teachers from the Region 9 school district will travel to professional learning programs around the world this summer, thanks to over $30,000 in grants awarded to the district.
Wednesday, school faculty announced who won the grant by surprising the teachers in their classrooms. They then celebrated with an event at John Barlow High School library.
Eight teachers from John Barlow High School will participate, one visiting Colorado, two attending an arts workshop in Italy and five travelling to San Antonio to learn about technology in education. One teacher from Helen Keller Middle School will attend a conference in Morocco and another from Redding Elementary School will take an educational tour of Cuba.
The funding for the Easton and Redding teachers was part of $800,000 in professional learning grants given to 210 teachers across the state by Fund for Teachers, a national nonprofit, and the Dalio Foundation. Those selected will participate in 145 programs in 48 countries and use their experiences to enhance learning back in their school districts.
