Apply for your passport Saturday in St. Charles

Winter blues are upon southeast Minnesota, and the cold can bring dreams of a warm getaway.

With travel, comes travel documents. If you need to apply for or renew your passport, the U.S. Post Office in St. Charles will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Acting as a passport agent for the state, applications can be made to meet with a passport agent by calling 507-932-4552, but walk-ins will also be accepted.

There are a few required documents you must make sure to bring to the passport agent:

Identification (original and a copy), is required to prove U.S. citizenship, such as:

• Previously issued, undamaged U.S. passport

• Certified birth certificate issued by the city, county, or state (Hospital-issued birth certificates are not acceptable)

• Consular report of birth abroad or birth certificate

• Naturalization certificate

• Certificate of citizenship

In addition, one current ID is required, such as:

• Naturalization certificate

• Valid driver’s license

• Current government ID (city, state or federal)

• Current military ID (military and dependents)

While St. Charles is hosting a day specifically to help the community obtain their passports, there are also multiple other locations in the area for passport applications and renewals with photo services on-site, including the Olmsted County Passport Office, U.S. Post Office – St. Charles, Dodge County Finance, Fillmore County Auditor – Treasurer Office, Mower County Recorder, Goodhue County Recorder and the U.S. Post Office – Winona.
