Governor names Jamie Spore to Barrier Free Design Board
LANSING, Mich. — Gov. Rick Snyder Tuesday announced the appointments of Jamie Spore of Ludington and Michael Winkler of Hamilton to the Michigan Barrier Free Design Board.
The nine-member board assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs with reviewing and processing requests for exceptions to the barrier-free design specifications. It also makes recommendations for barrier-free design rules.
“I thank Jamie and Michael for serving on this important board. I am confident they will do substantial work to help make Michigan more accessible for those with disabilities,” Snyder said.
Spore, who was Ms. Michigan Wheelchair 2016, will serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring Oct. 31, 2018. Winkler will serve a three-year term expiring Oct. 31, 2019. Member appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.
