Man convicted of raping children in Cascade County trial

July 18, 2019

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — A Cascade County jury has found a 48-year-old man guilty of six felony charges after four children accused him of sexually abusing them.

The Great Falls Tribune reports the jury convicted Scott Wayne Ellison Wednesday of three counts of sexual assault against children, two counts of sexual intercourse without consent and indecent exposure to minor.

The maximum penalty is 100 years in prison on each of those charges because of the ages of the victims. A judge will sentence him after a pre-sentence investigation and psychosexual evaluation are completed.

Ellison was accused of the abuse in May 2018. The evidence presented at trial included testimony from the four children, their counselors and therapists.

His attorney, Carl Jensen, told jurors that the evidence was not enough to prove Ellison’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
