Chamber society string orchestra sets concert

The Rochester Chamber Music Society String Orchestra, with soloists David Townsend and Horacio Nuguid, will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at Christ United Methodist Church, 400 Fifth Ave. SW.

The program consists of J.S. Bach’s Keyboard Concerto No. 4, Gerald Finzi’s Clarinet Concerto, and Mendelssohn’s String Octet.

Townsend and Nuguid are frequent performers with the chamber society. Townsend, a clarinetist, was a member of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra for 32 years. Nuguid, a pianist, has performed with several regional symphony orchestras, and teaches in Rochester.

James Buchan, winner of the 1985 Rochester Music Guild scholarship, is the concert master. Members of the orchestra are Luke Miksanek, Tomohiko Yamada, Hannah Reinschmidt, all violin; Angel M. Falu-Garcia and Tristan Vinzons, viola; Stephen Pelkey and Nick Scheel, cello, and Robert S. P. Gardner, bass.

Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
