Skagit County under wind warning
A storm bringing strong winds is forecast to hit Skagit County tonight.
The National Weather Service on Tuesday afternoon issued several advisories for the area, including a high wind watch, a gale watch and a winter storm warning.
The high wind watch is in effect through Thursday afternoon. The wind is forecast to reach up to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph, with the strongest winds seen in shoreline areas such as Anacortes.
The wind is expected to be most severe overnight and could result in downed trees and power outages, according to the weather service.
The gale watch is for waters around the San Juan Islands and western Skagit County.
It will be in effect through Thursday evening, as wind over the water is expected to progress from up to 25 knots Wednesday to up to 45 knots Thursday, according to the weather service.
Those winds speeds can produce wave conditions that are hazardous to small marine watercraft.
