Cattlemen’s Beef Board promote benefits of beef
KANSAS CITY - The Cattlemen’s Beef Board was one of the organizations highlighted last week at the National Association of Farm Broadcasters Convention in Kansas City.
CEO Scott Stuart tells News Talk WJAG the board is comprised of 99 beef producers from across the nation including domestic beef, dairy and veal producers, as well as importers of beef and beef products.
Stuart says one of their tasks is to promote beef and address current myths and misconceptions.
“Unfortunately there’s a lot of news that’s interesting but it may not be factual. And that’s one thing that we have to absolutely key in on with our messages from the Cattlemen’s Beef Board and the projects that our contractors do on behalf of the beef industry so that there’s sound science based information presented to consumers and producers so they fully understand the scope of beef production, but also how valuable beef production is to the nation.”
Stuart says each Beef Board member is appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture from nominations submitted by certified nominating organizations.
