James Oliver Ellis 1940 - 2018 James Oliver Ellis passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Jan. 31, 2018 in Boise, Idaho. He was the epitome of a loving father and will live in our hearts forever. We love you and miss you dearly. “Jim” Ellis, 77, was born on Feb. 5, 1940, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Oliver and Agnes Ennis Ellis and was the sixth of nine siblings. He joined the U.S. Army at 17 and served his country for 25 years, including a tour in Vietnam. He lived numerous places in the United States and Europe during his military career and during his lifetime, he met former President Ronald Reagan and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His two passions in life were his kids and traveling and he loved nothing more than being surrounded by his family. He was a quiet man but when he spoke, he was often witty with a dry sense of humor. While his body failed him, his mind remained sharp until the end. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Connie, and five children: Bryan, Sean, Monique, Kevin and Jacque, and one sister, Roberta Earick. He has 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A military service with full honors will be held at a later date.
