Greenwich officers say goodbye to oldest retiree
GREENWICH — Greenwich police officers gather around a1964 Plymouth Savoy police car replica, featuring a vintage light, siren, radio and spotlight, parked on Greenwich Avenue in Greenwich on Wednesday.
The old police car led a procession for the funeral of Michael Cofone, who was a Greenwich police officer from 1948 to 1973.
At 97, Officer Cofone was the oldest retiree of the Greenwich Police Department.
During his tenure as an officer, Cofone helped rescue a man trapped in the Pickwick Arms Hotel during a fire and performed CPR on another town resident, saving his life, according to the department.
