Resident clubs, outings and more bring summer funto Katy’s Cane Island
As the school year comes to a close and families welcome the start of summer, Cane Island’s tree-lined Cane Quarter once again will become a hub of activity as resident-only clubs, concerts under the stars, fitness classes and more get into full swing.
The summer fun starts Saturday, June 1, when the Katy community of new homes kicks off its popular summer concert series. Open to the public, the Friday and Saturday night concerts on the plush Cane Quarter central lawn present country and pop tunes from many of the area’s rising music stars. Blankets and folding chairs are welcome.
For some residents, summer in Cane Island is a chance to catch up with friends and neighbors while lounging in poolside cabanas, taking in Cane Island’s Father’s Day trip to an Astros game or perhaps while dining in the community’s new on-site restaurant, The Oaks Kitchen & Bar. Residents also come together for summertime dive-in movies, wine tastings, progressive dinners as well as classes in wine appreciation, gardening and bird feeding — all planned by the community’s full-time lifestyle director.
Those looking to get in tip-top shape will find plenty of company thanks to Cane Island’s popular running club, yoga club and other fitness groups. Cane Quarter also offers a robust summer schedule of Barre, Zumba, core and sculpt group fitness classes, yoga classes, cardio kickboxing and high-intensity interval training.
Opened in spring 2015, the carefully planned, 1,200-acre community presents luxury homes from the mid-$200,000s by several award-winning builders. The 2016 GHBA Community of the Year, Cane Island provides the convenience of I-10 access minutes west of the Grand Parkway, proximity to major west Houston employers and Katy ISD schools.
The Katy community also offers a custom-home neighborhood, The Estates at Cane Island, featuring half-acre homesites with lakefront views and forested settings.
