New London police: Dead body found on former Edgerton School property
New London — Police said a dead body was found early Monday morning in a parking lot on the former Edgerton School property.
Chief Peter Reichard said the deceased is a white male in his mid to late 30s and that his body showed “no overt signs of trauma.” Still, it was too early to rule out foul play, he said. Police are not identifying the deceased male at this time.
Two high school students found the body while walking to school a little after 7 a.m. Monday. The New London Fire Department pronounced the person dead at the scene around 7:15 a.m.
Police have cordoned the area with yellow caution tape, and there was a blue tarp around the body. About 10 police officials were on scene around 9 a.m. Monday, some wearing masks and taking pictures.
In addition to New London police and fire department, inspectors from the New London State’s Attorney’s Office responded to the scene. The medical examiner was also heading to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing. No further information is available.
