Capital Cities-ABC Completes Buy of Two TV Stations
FLINT, Mich. (AP) _ Capital Cities/ABC Inc. has completed its $155 million purchase of two VHF television stations, WJRT-TV in Flint, Mich., and WTVG-TV in Toledo, Ohio, from SJL Broadcasting Management Corp.
The agreement, first announced last October, was finalized Tuesday, Julie Hoover, spokeswoman for Capital Cities said Wednesday. The transaction has been approved by the Federal Communications Commission.
New York-based Capital Cities said the acquisitions from Billings, Mont.-based SJL Broadcast Management Corp. boost the number of television stations it owns and operates to 10.
WJRT-TV is an ABC affiliate in Flint, the nation’s 60th largest market.
WTVG-TV will switch its affiliation from NBC to ABC in Toledo, the nation’s 64th largest market.
