April 2, 2018

A Natchitoches man sought in connection with a deadly shooting late Saturday at a convenience store surrendered to police Sunday, according to a news release from the Natchitoches Police Department.

Jaquarious Ardison, 21, turned himself in at the Police Department and was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center on a charge of first-degree murder.

Natchitoches police identified Ardison as the triggerman in the shooting death of Jamel Haskett, who was shot multiple times at the Shop Rite located in the 200 block of Keyser Avenue. Haskett was transported by ambulance to the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

The shooting was reported around 11:13 p.m. following a fight between Haskett and Ardison. Both men exchanged gunshots, police said.
