Portland St. 73, E. Washington 58

CHENEY, Wash. (AP) _ Jamaal Sanford scored 15 points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds to lead Portland State to a 73-58 victory over Eastern Washington on Friday night.

The Vikings (6-13 overall, 3-6 Big Sky Conference) won for the third time in four games and beat the Eagles for the second time in less than a week. Eastern Washington (6-13, 2-7) was defeated 71-67 last Saturday at Portland State.

Portland State put the game out of reach with a 13-4 scoring run in the second half that left the Vikings ahead 66-48 with six minutes to go.

Eastern, which lost its fifth in a row, never got closer than 13 points the rest of the way.

Portland State led by as many as eight points in the first half and held a 36-29 advantage at the intermission.

Brian Towne had a game-high 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting for Portland State, which also got 12 points and four assists from Derek Nesland.

Mike Sims led four Eagles who scored in double figures with 13 points. Travis King added 12, while Karim Scott finished with 11 and Kevin Lewis had 10.
