GHS girls ice hockey team cruises past Wilton

Two goals apiece from Jennifer Kelly, Jennie Piotrzkowski and Grace Fahey led the Greenwich High School girls hockey team to another convincing win Saturday night against host Wilton/Norwalk/McMahon.

Scoring three goals in both the first and third periods, the Cardinals skated to an 8-1 win over Wilton/Norwalk/McMahon in an FCIAC matchup. The victory raised Greenwich’s record to 10-2-3 overall and 9-1-1 in the FCIAC. Greenwich is in first place in the FCIAC standings with 26 points.

The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead on Wilton/Norwalk/McMahon when Emily Bello scored at the 7 minute, 53 second mark of the first period. Fahey made it 2-0, tallying off assists from Piotrzkowski and Sydney Orszulak with 3:23 left in the opening period.

Kelly capped the first-period scoring, tallying off a pass from Anna Keaveney with 2:20 remaining. Goals from Piotrzkowski and Fahey in the second period put GHS on top, 5-0. Wilton’s loan goal came with 5:11 to go in the second period.

In the third period, Jessie Marzullo tallied off a pass from Paige Finneran, Kelly scored (Fahey assist) and Piotrzkowski netted a goal for the Cards. Greenwich is hosting rival New Canaan today at 4:30 p.m.
