ISU volleyball: Keck earns weekly honor
Freshman libero Haylie Keck was named this week’s Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week, announced Monday by league officials. Keck helped the Bengals to a perfect 2-0 weekend record with wins against Southern Utah and South Division leader Northern Arizona.
Keck was also named the U.S. Bank Bengal Athlete of the Week for her efforts.
The Iona native recorded 47 digs on the weekend to average 5.22 digs per set. She also added nine assists on the weekend with two service aces. Against Southern Utah on Nov. 3, Keck dug a match-high 20 balls and followed it up with a 27-dig performance against the Lumberjacks, who rank second in the league in hitting percentage at .234, on Nov. 5.
As a freshman, Keck ranks second overall in the Big Sky and 46th in the nation with 4.87 digs per set and 511 overall. She is a dig away from tying the ISU single-season digs record of 512 set by Kylee Sessions in 2012.
