Catch Wesley Bright & The Honeytones at Cleveland Sessions event: Tickets on sale now

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Wesley Bright & The Honeytones have been reinventing soul music for eager Northeast Ohio audiences for years. Now, the band will take its groovy live act to the Cleveland Sessions, and you’re invited to the action.

Akron’s Wesley Bright & The Honeytones will perform at Music Box show on Oct. 26, in support of soul-funk band Polyrhythmics. The first three songs of Bright’s opening performance will be captured on tape for The Cleveland Sessions.

Backed by a band of seven musicians (drummer Jonathan Fields, bassist Matthew Derubertis, guitarist Jimmy Parsons, saxophonist Nathan-Paul Davis, trumpeter Matt Garrett and trombonist Max Brady), Wesley Bright & The Honeytones have a full-bodied sound that makes for perfect dancing music.

Bright himself (aka singer Brent Wesley) is known for his high energy and funky dance moves onstage.

The band calls its style “The Rust Belt Sound,” fusing together ’60s soul with new energy. The group most recently released a single on Loveland, Ohio’s Colemine Records, which includes the songs “Happiness” and “You Don’t Want Me.”

Before they were Wesley Bright & The Honeytones, Wesley spent about five years fronting a different band, Wesley Bright & The Hi-Lites. The Hi-Lites broke up, but then Wesley formed the Honeytones in 2016.

The name is fitting; besides his work in music, Wesley is also the CEO of Akron Honey, a company that was featured on 2016 Lebron James produced TV show “Cleveland Hustles.”

Te Wesley Bright & The Honeytones’ and Polyrhytmics concert kicks off at 8 p.m. Oct. 26. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 the day of the show. Find more information at the Music Box’s website.
