Angola man arrested in series of home invasions
A 33-year-old Angola man was arrested on several charges, including criminal confinement, in Steuben County, the county sheriff’s department said today.
Around 3:40 a.m., deputies were called to the Tamarac Trails addition on 30 E near County Road 400 North in Angola, where a man had entered a home and assaulted the woman inside, the sheriff’s department said in a statement.
When detectives spoke with Angola city police, they discovered there had been two similar incidents overnight within Angola, the statement said.
After getting a description of the suspect from the victims, it said, police were able to find his vehicle along Interstate 69 near the Ramada Inn, where he had obtained a room. The suspect was not inside the room.
Around 6 a.m. police were again called to the Tamarac Trails addition on a report of a suspect being confronted by an armed homeowner, police said.
They said police were able to find the suspect, Dwain Horner, hiding inside an outdoor shed.
Horner was arrested and preliminary charged with burglary with a deadly weapon, battery with bodily injury, criminal confinement, strangulation and residential entry, the statement said. It said he faces additional charges from Angola police.
