WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has met with Jason Rezaian, the Washington Post reporter freed in January after being detained for more than 18 months in Iran.
Obama met briefly with Jason Rezaian on Monday morning while at the State Department to speak to ambassadors. The White House didn't release further details about their meeting.
Rezaian was released along with three other Americans as part of a prisoner exchange between the U.S. and Iran. His release has been cited as an example of more effective interactions between the U.S. and Iran following the nuclear deal.
In his speech to ambassadors, Obama said he's confident he can make significant progress on foreign policy in the next 10 months. He said he's looking forward to his historic trip to Cuba starting Sunday.
