Bleeding control course to be held Dec. 14

A course on bleeding control will be held on Dec. 14 in Scottsbluff.

Will Biberos, of American Fire and Life Safety, teaches the course. The course is open to the public and does not have any requirements to attend.

The course is 3 hours and covers management of major bleeding using tourniquets and blood clotting gauze. This class is open to the public and comes with a certification through the American College of Surgeons. The program is part of the “Stop the Bleed” campaign.

Biberos, formerly of Scottsbluff, is a former US Army combat medic with time served in the 101st Airborne in Iraq. He serves as a police officer in Fort Collins, Colorado, and has trained multiple police and sheriff’s agencies in Larimer County and school districts.

The class will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Platte Valley Community room, 1212 Circle Drive. The cost is $70 per person and comes with a Combat Application tourniquet.
