UNL Extension hosting grain marketing workshops in Northeast Nebraska
NORFOLK - Farmers in Northeast Nebraska are encouraged to attend one of three free grain marketing workshops.
University of Nebraska Lincoln Extension Educators will present strategies for using futures and options to protect farmers from adverse price declines.
Extension Economist Jim Jansen says the morning session will feature a review of futures and options along with a market outlook presentation.
Jansen says in the afternoon, attendees will be able to partake in a New Era Simulation.
“We’ll give you a certain amount of crop acres and from those acres you’ll need to figure out how the strategies we employ throughout the growing season or after the crop is harvested influence the grain marketing prices.”
The workshops will be offered February 5th at the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce, February 19th in West Point at the Nielsen Center, and February 22nd at Central Community College in Columbus with all three starting at nine and concluding at three.
