Martin St. Louis May Miss 2-4 Weeks
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ Tampa Bay Lightning right wing Martin St. Louis is expected to miss two to four weeks with a broken bone near the tip of his left ring finger.
The 2004 NHL MVP also has a damaged nail bed, the result of being hit in the hand by defenseman Darryl Sydor’s shot in practice Sunday.
``I knew right away it was bad,″ St. Louis said at Tampa Bay’s morning skate on Monday. ``I’m disappointed, obviously, because I want to help the team win. Now I’m watching for a little bit ... hopefully not too long.″
St. Louis has struggled at times this season, with five goals and 13 points in 18 games. During the Lightning’s 2003-04 Stanley Cup championship season, St. Louis had 38 goals and 94 points.
``Personally, I’m trying to get my game to where it needs to be,″ St. Louis said. ``This is kind of a setback. I’ve got to wait a little longer to do that.″
