2 men plead guilty in theft of gun from Woonsocket dealer
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Two Massachusetts men whole stole a gun from a federally licensed firearms dealer in Rhode Island then sold it on the streets of Boston have pleaded guilty.
Prosecutors say 30-year-old Charlie Vick, of Everett, pleaded guilty Wednesday and 23-year-old Gerald Rosario, of Chelsea, pleaded guilty in March in federal court in Providence to charges related to the August theft from a Woonsocket gun dealer, and the associated purchase of ammunition.
Authorities say the men went to Rhode Island to buy ammunition because Rhode Island state law does not require a background check for ammunition purchases, unlike Massachusetts. They say while Vick distracted the manager, Rosario stole the gun. Vick, as a convicted felon, was not allowed to purchase ammunition, but did so.
Within days, the stolen gun was sold.
