DA: No charges against officer in accidental shooting

ANAHIEM, Calif. (AP) — Officials say prosecutors will not file charges against a California police officer who accidentally shot a man and later gave false statements to investigators.

The Orange County Register says a report by the Orange County district attorney’s office says investigators declared there was no criminal case against Bradley.

The analysis says the shooting was “legally excusable” because Bradley didn’t do it on purpose, and his falsehoods didn’t obstruct or delay the investigation in any meaningful way to warrant any action. Prosecutors, however, stated they don’t condone his behavior.

Anaheim police spokesman Sgt. Daron Wyatt confirmed Monday that Bradley has been on paid administrative leave since the Nov. 25, 2017, shooting of domestic violence suspect Gerardo Ramos. When asked details about Bradley, the spokesman said he could not discuss personnel issues.
