Goshen County gearing up for county fair
TORRINGTON, Wyo. — The 2018 Goshen County Fair is just around the corner, bringing “Harvest Blessings” to the county.
The fair officially begins on Aug. 4, with team roping, barrel races and the Banner Health Timed Event Rodeo in the Sunshine Arena and Pavilion. After breaking for a few days, it starts up again on Aug. 7 with the Youth Rodeo Series and the Rubber Check Race Calcutta.
The big day of the fair is Goshen County Day on Aug. 9, which begins with the Ag Breakfast at the Rendezvous Center at 6:30 a.m., followed by the parade downtown at 10 a.m. The day continues at 1 p.m. with the 10th annual Ranch Rodeo at the pavilion, as well as the Goshen County Farm Bureau Federation Aglympics at 3 p.m. at the Grass Show Ring, and ends with the Jelmer Johnson Memorial Team Sort at 7 p.m.
The fair ends on Aug. 11 and the Salvation Army Family Day of the Fair. The day starts with the Buyers Breakfast at 8 a.m. in the Rendezvous Center, then the junior livestock sale in the Frontier Shelter at 9 a.m., and the Ranch Horse Showcase in the Sunshine Arena at 10 a.m. The fair comes to an end with the Kiwanis Pig Wrestling in the pavilion at 6 p.m.
At the same time, 4-H and FFA students will show animals and compete in contests all through the fair, starting on Aug. 2 with the supreme cow program and ending on Aug. 11 with the junior livestock sale.
