Six Flags Fiesta Texas to open Joker ride in 2019
The Clown Prince Of Crime is returning to San Antonio.
Six Flags Entertainment Corp. plans to open The Joker Wild Card, a 17-story pendulum ride that will be one of the tallest in the world, at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in time for its 2019 summer season, park officials announced Thursday.

The ride will pack 40 riders onto a disk and swing them around at speeds reaching 75 mph while the disk spins counterclockwise, the company said. Riders will feel weightless as they’re swung 172 feet into the air.
“The Joker Wild Card will be the fastest ride in park history and is the perfect villainous twist to our already spectacular ride lineup in the newly themed DC Universe area,” park president Jeffrey Siebert said in a statement.

Fiesta Texas will also begin operating the park on weekends and holidays in January and February, park officials said.
The San Antonio park has been adding to its stable of rides in recent years: the Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster earlier this year, the Thunder Rapids rocket blast water coaster in 2017 and Batman: The Ride, a 4D roller coaster, in 2015.
The Wild Card ride isn’t the first Joker-themed attraction to be featured at Fiesta Texas. The Joker’s Revenge, a backwards-running roller coaster, ran for five years before it closed in 2001 and was moved to Six Flags New Orleans the following year.

Fiesta Texas isn’t alone in beefing up its attractions. According to construction permits filed with the city and state, SeaWorld San Antonio plans to add a turtle exhibit pool and two rides: the Huss Airboat, a three-armed ride that spins riders, and Zamperla Midi Discovery, which spins and swings riders on a pendulum.
