Maryland woman found with weed, $100K
A Maryland woman is facing charges after police found marijuana and more than $100,000 in her vehicle.
State police charged Maria Anne Joseph, 65, North Beechwood Avenue, Catonsville, with possession with intent to deliver and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police noticed Joseph’s vehicle had an expired inspection sticker Sunday at the North Somerset Service Plaza on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. While police were speaking with her, they noticed a marijuana odor coming from the vehicle. Joseph gave police two marijuana cigarettes that were individually contained in clear plastic tubes. She then told police she had more marijuana in the back of the vehicle.
According to court documents, police found three packaged THC oil cartridges, a vape pen with THC and $110,200 cash in the vehicle. THC is an acronym for tetrahydrocannabinol, the main active ingredient of marijuana.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:50 a.m. March 26 before District Judge Ken Johnson in Somerset. Joseph was in the Somerset County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond, but she bonded out on Monday, according to a jail employee.
