Bremen’s Petersen out for 6 weeks with knee injury
BREMEN, Germany (AP) — Werder Bremen striker Nils Petersen has been ruled out for six weeks with a partial ligament tear in his left knee.
The Bundesliga club says that Petersen sustained the injury from a goal attempt in the last minute of the league match against Freiburg on Saturday, which ended 0-0.
Petersen says, “I felt something straight after the shot as I twisted my knee ... If I had made it 1-0, then it wouldn’t be quite so painful.”
Bremen also has Aaron Hunt and Austria forward Zlatko Junuzovic on its injury list. Hunt missed training Sunday with a stomach bug, while Junuzovic needed three stitches for a cut to his head on Saturday.
It remained unclear when Argentina striker Franco Di Santo can fully take part in training.
