North Charleston police: Victim and suspect in fatal stabbing Thursday were brothers
North Charleston police have revealed that the victim and suspect in a fatal stabbing on Thursday were brothers.
Denardo Felder, 20, was involved in an argument with his brother just before the incident, according to a report released Friday.
The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has not identified the other brother.
Officers were dispatched at 12:26 a.m. to an apartment at 5477 Torgerson Drive for a report of a fight between brothers, the report said. As they arrived, a dispatcher told the officers that one brother stabbed the other one.
The officer gave the victim CPR until emergency medical services and firefighters arrived, the report said.
The brother’s mother told officers that her sons were in “a verbal altercation that turned physical,” the report said. She gave them Denardo’s description and he was arrested nearby a short time later.
He faces murder and weapons charges, police said.
The incident was the 33rd homicide in the North Charleston city limits in 2017, making this year the city’s deadliest on record. It is the 63rd homicide in the tri-county area.
