Winona Senior High School Winhawks of the Week for Nov. 6-10:
Senior, Justin Obiofu, is the son of Fatima Williams of Chicago.
Justin describes himself as outgoing and intelligent. He lists math and Spanish as his favorite subjects. Justin is active in WSHS football, basketball and track. He says that his role model is Judge Mary Leahy.
Faculty and staff describe Justin as ambitious, friendly, energetic, positive and a gentleman. He has a great attitude and is a role model for his peers, they say.
After graduation, Justin plans to attend a university to earn a bachelor’s degree. His advice to students is, “Don’t be afraid to be yourself.”
Senior Sami Marino is the daughter of Karen Kistler and Ed Marino of Winona.
Sami describes herself as open minded, friendly, talkative, adventurous, spontaneous, and unforgettable. She lists philosophy, science and choir as her favorite subjects. Sami is active in WSHS choir and she loves to sing, relax and watch movies and TV shows, and look for something new or interesting to do every day. Sami says that her role models are her mom and her older sister Alissha.
Faculty and staff describe Sami as mature, friendly, hardworking, and positive with a wonderful attitude. She is an excellent student with a contagious smile, they say.
After graduation Sami plans to be a marine animal trainer. Her advice to students is; “Don’t let what other people think get in the way of achieving your dreams.”
