On final day of early voting, surrogates for Clinton, Trump fan out across NC
The final day of early in-person voting in North Carolina is bringing urgency to the presidential battleground state and attracting a wave of volunteers to get people to the polls.
Interest groups of all political stripes are working the state Saturday for get-out-the-vote efforts, including unions, social and fiscal conservatives and gay rights groups. Early voting ends at 1 p.m. in all counties.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump holds a rally in Wilmington on Saturday afternoon. Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry also will be traveling the state for him.
Many Hillary Clinton surrogates also were expected on the ground, led by Chelsea Clinton. “The West Wing” actors Bradley Whitford and Richard Schiff will greet votes and volunteers and TV personality Star Jones will visit hair salons urging support for Clinton.
