BERLIN (AP) — The German football federation is investigating alleged racist taunting by fans toward a black player during a second-division game.

Ingolstadt defender Danny da Costa, who is a Germany under-21 international, says he was repeatedly abused during his team's 1-0 loss at 1860 Munich on Sunday.

Da Costa said Monday on the federation website that he was called racial epithets, including "black pig," and that "every time the ball came near me, there were monkey chants."

Referee Florian Meyer asked for a stadium announcement calling for the abuse to stop once Da Costa told him it was "no longer acceptable."

1860 Munich says it has identified at least one perpetrator, who will be issued with a stadium ban.
