SUSAN KEGLEY CARTER, 73, of Milton, passed away peacefully January 30, 2019, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2019, at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by Pastor Kim Miller. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. She was born March 31, 1945, in Pineville, W.Va., a daughter of Effie and Estil Kegley. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from Marshall University and worked at Lawrence County General Hospital as laboratory manager/medical technologist. She later received her Master’s in Business Administration and served as office manager for Pathology Services Group (later University Pathologists and Surgeons) in Huntington until retirement. Susan was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ironton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford C. Carter; and her brother, Fred (Ted) Kegley of Como, Texas. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Jay Hamvas of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sons and daughter-in-law, Sean and Lisa Carter of Milton, W.Va., and Matthew Carter of Milton, W.Va.; and four grand children, Alexis, Amelia, Sean Wesley and Jackson Carter; and sister, Anna Mae Rose of Jackson Springs, N.C.
