Passport to Sandy Hook set in October

September 13, 2016 GMT

NEWTOWN -- Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity (SHOP), a group of local business owners and community members from Sandy Hook, will hold its third annual Passport to Sandy Hook, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, in the downtown Sandy Hook Village area.

Visitors to Sandy Hook Center that day will be offered “passports,” which they can then have stamped as they visit each participating business within Sandy Hook. Completed passports will then be entered into a drawing, with three prize packages worth over $3,500 in total.

“Sandy Hook is a special place,” said SHOP President Joe Hemingway. “[Passport] is a great opportunity for people to come, enjoy the day, and celebrate all that Sandy Hook has to offer. We have over 30 businesses participating this year — some new, and many returning. This event grows every year and is always an exciting day.”

The event will also include live music, touch-a-truck, face painting and other family-friendly events. The event is free, but participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to FAITH Food Pantry.
