COLLEGE: Wilkes Baseball Gets Win
At Annville, the Wilkes baseball team (14-18) pounded out 15 hits in a 5-3 nonleague win over Lebanon Valley on Tuesday. Nicholas Capozzi led the way with four hits and had two RBIs. Nolan Ott pitched three scoreless innings in relief. King’s 6, Marywood 2 At Lipo Field, Christian Pack and Kyle Friebolin each drove in two runs as the Monarchs avenged a nonconference loss earlier this season. Friebolin also picked up the win by pitching four innings. PSU Wilkes-Barre 5, PSU Schuylkill 0 Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s baseball team clinched the PSUAC East Division championship Monday with a win against second-place PSU Schuylkill. Freshman Brandon Hardiman (Northwest) and senior John Fagotti (Pittston Area) pitched the Mountain Lions to victory. Hardiman threw five innings and allowed two hits with four strikeouts, before Fagotti earned the save by pitching the final two innings with three strikeouts. Michael Sikora (Lake-Lehman) hit a two-run single in the first to put PSW-B on the board. Softball At Anderson Field, Misericordia swept Keystone, 8-0 and 9-1. Brooke Moyle tossed six scoreless innings in the opener and struck out 13, while Brianna Holder hit a three-run home run. Miranda Bohn earned her 13th win of the season in Game 2. Tennis Misericordia’s teams split against Eastern on Tuesday, with the women’s team winning 6-3. Cassidy Breen and Erika Slowicki were double-winners and perfect in their respective singles matches. Curt Jorgensen was a double-winner for the Cougars on the men’s side.
