LONDON (AP) _ Paul Justin threw two touchdown passes and Daron Alcorn kicked two field goals Monday night, leading the Frankfurt Galaxy past the London Monarchs 27-7 in the World League of American Football.
In the race to see which of the other five WLAF teams plays the Amsterdam Admirals in the World Bowl June 17 or 18, the Galaxy yielded an opening touchdown and then scored 27 straight points.
Craig Thomas rushed for 135 of his 143 yards in the second half for Frankfurt. Cornerbacks Jack Kellogg and Chris Hall had two interceptions each for the Galaxy.
The Monarchs, beaten 45-22 by Frankfurt on the opening day of the season, took the lead at 10:46 of the first quarter on Brad Johnson’s 3-yard pass to Phil Bryant.
Frankfurt tied it at 13:00 of the opening quarter with Justin’s 21-yard pass to Mario Bailey. Alcorn gave the Galaxy the lead at 12:53 of the second with a 32-yard field goal. Justin hit Bob Brasher with a 7-yard pass to give Frankfurt a 17-7 halftime lead.
Alcorn’s 38-yard field at 10:31 of the third period stretched the lead and Thomas scored on a 5-yard run to cap the scoring.
