BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) _ New York Mets outfielder Roger Cedeno was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in southwest Florida.

The Florida Highway Patrol arrested the Mets’ outfielder after he was seen drifting into other lanes erratically in his silver Mercedes around 3 a.m. EST Tuesday, an FHP report said.

Cedeno, 28, was released from the Manatee County Jail after posting a $500 bond.

Peter Greenberg, Cedeno’s New York-based agent, did not immediately return a telephone call.

Cedeno lives in Bradenton, about 45 miles south of Tampa, during the offseason.

FHP troopers said Cedeno’s eyes were bloodshot and there was a strong scent of alcohol on his breath. Cedeno failed a field sobriety test and was charged with a misdemeanor DUI.

``It was a pretty benign arrest, no problem,″ said Mike Rushing, a spokesman for Florida Highway Patrol. ``It was pretty routine.″

A court date for Cedeno’s DUI charge is set for Dec. 23.
