Police: Man Dumped Meth-making Waste

March 17, 2018 GMT

EDWARDSVILLE — A Jenkins Twp. man was arraigned Friday on charges he was caught hauling methamphetamine-making waste in Edwardsville while out on bail for manufacturing methamphetamine in Pittston, police said. Nicholas Space, 24, was charged with operating a meth lab, illegal dumping of meth, and recklessly endangering another person. Police said the incident occurred on Aug. 18 following a traffic stop. Investigators said Space told them he was hauling garbage to a local dump because he ran out of garbage bags. But arrest papers say suspicious officers knew Space and his passenger both had a history with methamphetamine. Following questioning, Space eventually confessed to hauling meth, police said. Space was arraigned Friday by Magisterial District Judge Joseph Halesey, who ordered him jailed in lieu of $50,000. — BOB KALINOWSKI
