Delays on early buses out of NYC for Women’s March

January 21, 2017

NEW YORK (AP) — Hundreds of people trying to get from New York City to the Women’s March on Washington early Saturday were delayed after a crush of last-minute ticket sales sent bus companies scrambling.

A total of 18 extra Greyhound buses were added to the 3:45 a.m. schedule, but the short notice meant some buses didn’t get drivers on time. A Greyhound spokeswoman said most of the delays lasted about two hours. Demonstrators said there postponements on Peter Pan as well. The bus company didn’t respond to a call seeking comment.

Fifty-one-year-old Julia Brothers said she was delayed with hundreds of women, all going to the march, some carrying protest signs. She said they were “heartbroken” they may not make it on time. They left at about 7:15 a.m.
