College of St. Joseph says it may have found partnership

March 11, 2019

RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont college facing the potential loss of its accreditation says it may have found a partner institution to keep itself open.

College of St. Joseph President Jennifer Scott said on Thursday that the school has entered into talks with a partner institution, and says she is “optimistic” about the colleges’ future. The Rutland Herald reports Scott did not name the partner or if it was a Vermont institution.

The New England Commission of Higher Education notified CSJ officials in December that the small, independent college could lose its accreditation by the end of the spring semester unless the school provides proof of financial stability.

College Board of Trustees Chair Jay Kenlan said Friday he didn’t want to comment until after Scott presents the plan to the board Monday.
