Obituary: James R. Miller

James Robert “Bob” Miller, 96, of Romeoville, Illinois, formerly of Mount Carmel, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, in Naperville. He was born April 6, 1920, in Mount Carmel, one of eleven children of James Howard and Mary Ruth (Saulmon) Miller.

He married Dolice M. Woods and after her death married Shirley Prchal, also deceased.

Bob attended Mount Carmel High School. He drove a semi-truck for Dersch Oil and later worked as a Correctional Officer for the State of Illinois.

Left to cherish his memories are his son, Richard (Silvia) Miller of Glendale, Arizona; granddaughter Alex Miller; step-children Ron Prchal and Gail Collins; step-grandchildren Ken (Monica) Prchal, Kevin (Aly) Prchal, Garrett Collins, Amanda Collins and Nick Collins; brothers Wayne Miller, Sr., Tom Miller, Norman Miller; and sister Helen Lucas.

Preceding him in death are his parents; both wives; brothers Charles Ray Miller, Bill Miller, David Miller; sisters, Jeanette McDowell, Mary Katherine Didick and Judy Marie Miller.

Visitation for James Robert Miller will be Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry St., Mount Carmel, IL 62863.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home with burial to follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mount Carmel.
