Antoneicka Harris earns PhD
Antoneicka Harris, of Kankakee, received her doctorate from Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., where she studied biomedical sciences, translational sciences and philosophy. She is a 2005 graduate of Kankakee High School. Antoneicka is working in Texas, where she received a post-doctoral fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her responsibilities include researching the role of FGFR2-BICC1 fusions in the development and tumorigenicity of a rare malignancy called cholangiocarcinoma, specifically intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. Results from these studies will lead to the development of novel treatment options for patients who suffer from this disease.
