Man stabbed in I.F., suspect in custody
Idaho Falls police and the Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to the scene of a reported stabbing Tuesday at Garfield Apartments on the 500 block of North Fanning Avenue.
Idaho Falls Public Safety received a report at 10:20 a.m. that a man had been stabbed. Upon arrival, emergency responders found an injured 54-year-old man, a police department news release said. The victim was transported via ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
The suspect is in custody and police do not have any reason to believe there is a threat to the public.
Idaho Falls Police Department Spokeswoman Holly Cook said the detective found probable cause to charge Devon Arias, 18, for the stabbing. Cook said the department plans to recommend a charge of aggravated battery to the Bonneville County Prosecutor’s Office.
Dora Erickson Elementary and Compass Academy were notified of the stabbing at 10:42 a.m. and locked doors to the outside to prevent anyone from entering while classes continued. The lockdown ended at 11:13 a.m.
