FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — A Rhode Island man charged with fatally shooting a Fall River man possibly in a dispute over two women has been ordered held without bail.

The Herald News (http://bit.ly/1hyb1US ) reports that William Tate of East Providence, R.I., pleaded not guilty Wednesday to murder and firearms charges stemming from the Jan. 5 shooting of David Rodriguez.

Prosecutors say the 26-year-old Rodriguez was upset that Tate was trying to start a relationship with his sister. Witnesses also told investigators Tate had dated Rodriguez's girlfriend, and Rodriguez may have believed Tate was trying to rekindle that relationship.

Authorities say the men had a heated argument in an apartment building laundry room minutes before the shooting.

Tate said Rodriguez had threatened him and charged out of the apartment building while Tate sat in his car.
